Forged Wheel FAQ

Forged wheels are produced from high-strength aluminum that is formed under tremendous pressure before being precision CNC-machined into the final design. Unlike conventional cast wheels, which begin as molten aluminum poured into a mold, a forged wheel begins with a solid forged blank. BE FORGED wheels are built to order from 6061-T6 forged aluminum.

The main difference is how the aluminum is formed. Cast wheels are made by pouring molten aluminum into a mold. Forged wheels begin with a solid aluminum forging that is formed under pressure and then machined. Forging allows material to be used efficiently, giving engineers greater control over strength, weight and wheel geometry.

Forged construction can provide an excellent strength-to-weight ratio compared with conventional cast construction, allowing unnecessary material to be removed while maintaining the requirements of the application. Actual wheel weight and capacity depend on diameter, width, design, offset, load requirement and vehicle application, so BE FORGED does not use one universal weight or strength claim for every wheel.

Both are premium forged constructions. Monoblock wheels are ideal when one-piece construction, rigidity and weight optimization are priorities. We start with the vehicle, not a generic wheel specification. Fitment can account for year, make, model, trim, bolt pattern, center bore, brake clearance, wheel width, offset, suspension setup, tire size, load requirements and desired stance. This lets us configure the wheel around the application instead of simply selecting the closest off-the-shelf size.

Wheel offset, often shown as ET, is the relationship between the wheel mounting surface and the wheel centerline. Offset affects how far inward or outward the wheel sits relative to the suspension and fender. The wrong offset can cause clearance problems or an undesirable stance, which is why it is considered as part of the complete fitment.

Brake clearance is an important part of proper wheel fitment. BE FORGED considers the vehicle’s brake package when configuring a wheel. Vehicles with large factory brakes or aftermarket big-brake kits may require additional measurements or caliper information before production. Yes. Many performance and luxury vehicles use different front and rear wheel widths and/or offsets. A staggered setup can be configured around the vehicle, tire availability, brake clearance and desired stance.

Yes. Modified suspension, widebody conversions, lifted trucks and other non-factory configurations can substantially change fitment requirements. Provide details about suspension changes, current wheel specifications, tire size and body modifications so the new setup can be configured appropriately.

Yes. BE FORGED offers forged-wheel applications for performance SUVs, luxury SUVs, trucks, off-road-oriented builds and compatible electric vehicles. Wheel load requirements are based on the vehicle and intended application rather than one universal rating. Vehicle weight, axle loading, wheel dimensions and application requirements are considered when developing the specification. Engineering analysis, FEA validation and load simulation may be available when required for a specific configuration.

BE FORGED offers custom forged-wheel applications in approximately 16-inch through 30-inch diameters, depending on the design, construction and vehicle application. Available widths and profiles vary by model. Contact us with your vehicle and desired setup and we can confirm the appropriate options.

Finish options can include brushed, polished, painted, machined and specialty finishes depending on the wheel design and configuration. Multi-piece designs can also allow contrasting finishes across separate components. Finish availability is confirmed during the configuration process.

Depending on the design, wheel dimensions and vehicle clearances, many BE FORGED wheels can be configured with different levels of concavity, lip depth and overall profile. These characteristics cannot be selected independently of fitment—brake clearance, offset, width and available space ultimately determine how aggressive a configuration can be.

Customization options may be available for center caps, engraving and other wheel details depending on the design and order. Let us know before production begins so we can determine what is possible for your particular build.

Custom design requests can be evaluated individually. Send reference images, sketches or examples along with your vehicle information and describe the elements that matter most, such as spoke architecture, concavity, lip profile or finish. We can review the concept and determine what can realistically be engineered and manufactured.

Start with your vehicle year, make, model and trim, preferred wheel design, desired diameter, finish, suspension modifications, brake modifications, current or desired tire size and the stance you want to achieve. If you are unsure about width or offset, that is completely fine—we can help determine an appropriate configuration.

Once your specifications are finalized, the order moves into production. Depending on the application, the process can include fitment confirmation, engineering review, machining, finishing, assembly for multi-piece wheels, inspection and preparation for shipment. Because BE FORGED wheels are made specifically for each customer, the process differs from purchasing an off-the-shelf wheel.

Production time varies with wheel construction, design, size, finish, customization and current production requirements. An estimated production timeframe can be provided when your specifications and order are confirmed. Specialty finishes or highly customized configurations may require additional time.

Contact BE FORGED immediately if you need to request a change. Because each set is manufactured specifically for the application, changes become increasingly difficult—and may become impossible—once engineering, machining or finishing has begun. Any requested change must be reviewed based on the current production status.

BE FORGED wheels are custom manufactured to the customer’s selected vehicle specifications, dimensions, design and finish. Because of their made-to-order nature, custom orders generally cannot be treated like standard stocked merchandise. Cancellation or return eligibility depends on the status of the order and the circumstances involved. Contact us as quickly as possible if there is an issue.

Finished wheels are carefully packaged for transportation to help protect the wheel and its finish during shipment. Inspect your shipment promptly upon arrival. If you notice shipping damage, retain all packaging and photograph the wheel, shipping carton and shipping label before installation, then contact BE FORGED as soon as possible so the issue can be documented and reviewed.

BE FORGED stands behind the workmanship and manufacturing quality of its wheels. Warranty coverage depends on the nature of the issue and generally does not extend to road hazards, accidents, improper installation, misuse, vehicle modifications, improper maintenance or other conditions unrelated to a manufacturing defect. If you believe there is a manufacturing or finish issue, contact us with your order information and detailed photographs for evaluation. Specific warranty terms applicable to your purchase should be referenced for complete coverage, limitations and exclusions.

Regular cleaning is the best way to preserve the appearance of your wheels. Use clean water, a mild automotive wheel-safe or pH-neutral cleaner and a soft microfiber towel or non-abrasive wash mitt. Whenever possible, clean wheels when they are cool and out of direct sunlight. Avoid harsh acids, highly alkaline cleaners, abrasive compounds, aggressive brushes and household chemicals that may damage the finish.

It depends on the type and severity of the damage. Minor cosmetic damage may sometimes be refinished, while structural damage requires professional evaluation. A wheel that is bent, cracked or has experienced a significant impact should not automatically be assumed repairable simply because it is forged.
